Common Questions
Yes! As of 2020, the act of getting married online holds full legal recognition in the United States, when done through the state of Utah. This development means that individuals globally now have the option to get 100% legally married online, from start to finish. The traditional requirements of signing physical documents or visiting a courthouse to obtain an official US marriage certificate have been bypassed, rendering the process streamlined and accessible from anywhere.

We get you set up with the Marriage application, and we schedule a ceremony. When it comes time for your ceremony, you will join the video call where you will meet your wedding officiant. We have a 3 step process.
1) Get signed up and schedule a date & time for your ceremony.

However, we are partnered with HelloPrenup who does.
We suggest that you sign up at least 3-7 days before your ceremony, so that you have time to fix any issues that come up.

For the moment, our officiants speak English and Spanish. A Spanish ceremony can be requested for no extra fee.
If you wish to have your ceremony translated into another language, we can add in a translator to your ceremony for an extra $50 fee. Please contact support@distantweddings.com if you wish to do so.
The answer to this depends entirely on your countries requirements.
If a translation is needed, you can visit our partner RushTranslate who offers marriage certificate translations for an affordable and simple price.
We do not currently have the Nikah ceremony option available, however we’re working to get it added as soon as possible!
An Apostille is needed depending on your situation. Apostille Stamps are special certificates approved & issued by the Secretary of State or the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. This allows a legal document created in one country to be recognized in another country.
If you got married while being a resident in another country, this could come into use. An Apostille ensures that your marriage certificate is considered legal & authentic, therefore being recognized in any of the countries that are part of The Hague Apostille Convention of 1961.
The cost of an apostille stamp is $60 + shipping fee, depending on your shipping zone.
